Biópolis patents a new type of bioplastic that drastically reduces the use of pollutant solvents

Biópolis, a company in which Talde has a holding, has developed a new type of bioplastic thanks to the use of a new bacteria, Pseudomas putida, generated by scientists at the CSIC. This bacteria is capable of self-destructing and liberating bioplastics in a controlled way, which is a revolutionary way of obtaining the material and facilitates the process of purifying plastics on an industrial scale.

This discovery will therefore mean a significant reduction in the environmental impact of bioplastic production, as it reduces the use of pollutant solvents during the product purification process. Also thanks to this discovery, new compositions of bioplastics have been obtained which can have their chemical structure modified after being produced by the bacteria.

Biópolis, one of the leading biotechnology firms in Valencia, is the first spin-off developed by the CSIC in the field of biotechnology.
